The Difeduc association celebrated World Digital Women’s Day at the CAJEN orphanage yesterday.
An introductory computer workshop was held with young children, especially girls, to give them digital skills right from the start. On this World Digital Women’s Day, it was a timely opportunity to turn our attention to young girls and women living in less privileged environments, such as orphanages. Far from being forgotten, these women and girls have immense potential to exploit and a crucial role to play in building a more inclusive and equitable digital world.
Celebrating World Digital Women’s Day at an orphanage has a special meaning. The aim is to reach out to these young girls and women, to help them discover the infinite opportunities offered by the digital world, and to encourage them to appropriate technological tools to emancipate themselves and chart their own course.
A Discovery and Learning Workshop (basic introduction to computers).
Organizing a workshop in an orphanage on the occasion of World Digital Women’s Day raised awareness among the young girls present of the various aspects of the digital world.
This workshop was an opportunity to :
– Discover the digital professions: Introduce young girls to the different professions linked to the digital world, emphasizing the key roles played by women in this field.
– Learning the basics of computing: Introducing girls to the use of a computer, surfing the web and creating digital content.
– Developing digital skills: Teaching girls practical skills such as coding, website creation and social networking.
– Meet inspiring women: Invite women working in the digital field to share their experiences and encourage young girls to pursue their dreams.
A space for exchange and motivation
Beyond learning digital skills, the workshop was also a space for exchange and motivation for the girls. By creating a friendly, inclusive environment, we can encourage self-expression, the sharing of ideas and the development of self-confidence.
A Ray of Hope and Inspiration
Celebrating World Digital Women’s Day in an orphanage isn’t just about raising awareness and learning. Above all, it was about offering young girls and women a ray of hope and inspiration. By showing them the possibilities offered by the digital world, we open the door to a better future, where they can flourish and make a positive contribution to society.
On this World Digital Women’s Day, let’s not forget the young girls and women who live in disadvantaged environments. We are committed to helping them discover the digital world, and to giving them the means to emancipate themselves and realize their full potential.
The association is committed to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Ensure equitable access to quality education for all, and promote opportunities for lifelong learning).
Our actions are guided by this desire to support people in need on an educational and digital level.
This workshop is part of one of the association’s “Connected Orphanage” programs. It is being set up because we believe that digital skills are increasingly in demand in many areas of daily life and employment, to succeed in an ever-changing digital world.
From now on, the program will be held on a regular basis to encourage young people to take an interest in the digital world and to identify the talents of tomorrow.
