24 July 2023
On this occasion, Association Difeduc took part in the activities organized in the district of Douala 4 by the Ministry of Social Affairs and its branches.
This year’s theme is ~Children’s Rights in the Digital Environment~
The objective of this meeting in the Douala 4th District is to mobilize the Douala IVth community around the need to ensure equitable and protected access for children in the digital world.
An initiative for which the @GHOC association invited our representative, the Vice-president Mr. NYANI TCHANA Lionel to present. Here is the summary:
In the digital environment made up of tablets, smartphones, connected screens in general, minor children must be accompanied by parents or guardians to better explore and fully experience the added value of the digital world.
At the same time, parents and guardians are responsible for children’s digital safety, educating them on the responsible use of technology and the risks present online. Children should not be exposed to inappropriate content or behaviors that are dangerous to their mental health or safety.
Digital technology can offer many benefits for children, including:
1. Access to education: Digital technologies provide convenient and interactive learning opportunities for children, allowing them to access educational content online, as well as participate in distance learning programs.
2. Broadening cultural horizons: Through digital technologies, children can discover new cultures, languages and traditions through online educational content and thus broaden their cultural horizons.
3. Development of social and communication skills: children can participate in online chats, forums, social networks, which gives them the opportunity to develop their written communication and their ability to work in a team and be heard.
4. Creativity: Digital technologies provide children with tools to create their own digital works, whether videos, music, digital art, video games, etc.
5. Accessibility: Digital technologies can enable children with specific needs (motor, visual or hearing disabilities) to better interact with the world around them and participate in online activities.
